Perhaps a blank line before the centered chapter heading and 2 blank lines before the first paragraph.
Can you give me a quick-and-dirty lesson?TremoluxManhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09685852047127008989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3631024772188885753.post-62993700970876321182010-11-05T11:51:45.175-05:002010-11-05T11:51:45.175-05:00Hi Laurie... and thanks for the kind words.
Yes, ...Hi Laurie... and thanks for the kind words.

Yes, you can change the default Style for "Heading", and that is probably the best way.

Sometimes Kindle will ignore direct formatting, and changing the Style rather than changing each one by hand is easier because it's more consistent, anyway.

Be aware that the Kindle has limited ability to display exactly what font you use. It can display bold, italics and normal, and font size to some degree, but not to the extent you are used to in print.

I find it's best to experiment a bit before spending a lot of time formatting my copy. Try different things and see what the Kindle does with your choices.

The Kindle is absolutely wonderful... but not absolutely perfect just yet.

Also... you used the term "Header", when I think you mean "Heading". The "Header" goes at the top of a print page... but is not used on the Kindle.

CJCJ's Easy As Piehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08937190400653087716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3631024772188885753.post-49781314303799664762010-11-04T20:32:03.530-05:002010-11-04T20:32:03.530-05:00CJ,

I wanted to know -- is it okay to change the default formatting on a header? All I want is to take off the italics and center it. I know how to change the style, but should I? Or do I have to change each one manually with the standard italics and centering buttons when I place that header in the text? I didn't know which way was better for Kindle to accurately translate it. Thanks!Laurie Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08585478734394428471noreply@blogger.com
